Appointments and Fees

Some people just want to dive into their counselling from the very first session. If that is you, then just get in touch and we’ll set a date and time for the first session and go from there. Sessions are 50 minutes long.

However, if you want to try-out counselling with me to see if we’re compatible, then I offer a free 30-minute consultation.

If you have any questions, contact me and I’ll try to answer any questions you have before you decide whether to go ahead.

In any case, I would not expect you to make a commitment without meeting me, so I treat the first session as a try-out and we can discuss whether to continue at the end.

For focussed, problem-solving work this is usually for a limited term, typically 8-12 weeks. For major life changes, long-established issues and exploratory work it can be open-ended for as long as you feel you need it. You are in charge of how long therapy lasts.

Session Fees

I generally work on a fixed fee basis:

  • £70 per session

However, this is negotiable. I recognise that many people are struggling financially and I’d rather find some way of accommodating you if I can, so please get in touch to discuss fees.

Fees are usually paid by direct bank transfer, but I also accept cash or PayPal. I do not accept credit cards. Payments can be made weekly or monthly, I can provide invoices for monthly payments.

Concessions

I do have a limited number of concessionary places at lower fees if you cannot afford the full fee, especially if you are able to come in the daytime. Unfortunately I do need to limit how many concessionary places I can offer, but please get in touch to discuss whether I have any such places free.

If you are a counselling student, then having counselling is part of the training. I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach and so can see students of this approach or those taking a wider Humanistic training. I offer concessions to student counsellors so please ask.
